Safety on campus

The Linn Benton community college public safety office has a mission.  That mission is "to create a safe and secure learning environment by providing proactive and responsive professional campus safety programs and services that reduce criminal opportunity and safety hazards". Also around campus, there are white security phones which will make a direct call to the office when you dial 411.

Their Office is located in Red Cedar Hall room 114 and also provides first aid and serves as a lost and found.  If you lose anything and someone turns it in, you can call or come in person to the office and claim it.  They also provide parking lot safety which means that they made the speed limit 15 mph.

In the paking lot they also have some regulations which inculde the 15 mph speed limit, giving right a way to the pedestrans and they also have suggested that you give yourself plenty of time to park.  They also stated in there website that the parking is on a "first come, first served basis".  Also, in addtion to the car parking spots, there are places to park your motercycle and they have handicap parking as well.

According to Marcene Olson who is the Safety and loss prevention manager and is in charge of  the LBCC campus security which is a private security team, they receives a 3 day course and they must re-certify every two years.  Some of the challenges that they face are that they are not allowed to carry any weapons so they must use good communication skills to talk to people.  "This is a very dedicated team and they are here to do a very good job" Olson said.  She also said that they have a very high customer service attitude.
